MLS Week 13 Betting Notes

Last weekend saw some crazyness with a record nine red cards being handed out. That s the most red cards for one day of matches ever, with the previous record being seven.

A ton of teams are still winless on the road this season. That list includes Vancouver, San Jose, Los Angeles and Houston from the West and New York, Toronto and NYCFC from the East.

Orlando is undefeated in their last six home games vs NYCFC, while New York has lost four straight across all comps, all on the road and are 0-2-5 away from home this season.

Toronto s two shot attempts on Saturday was their lowest output since 2010 and tied the fewest shot attempts by any team this season as it s happened to both Atlanta and Vancouver. They ll need to do better this week against a Red Bulls team coming off a win and one that has scored against TFC in 16 straight meetings and has only lost once in their past ten games versus Toronto.

It s unclear if he ll feature this week, but Minnesota United got some good news this week as the suspended Emanuel Reynoso, the Loons best player, has been cleared to return to the team. Reynoso has 18 goals and 35 assists in his 76 games with the Loons.

Revenge will surely be on the minds for Wayne Rooney and DC United as they lost their two games against Philly last season by a combined score of 13-0 (7-0 and 6-0). That s the worst two-game span goal differential in a season in MLS history.

Tim Melia came off with an injury on the weekend in SKC s win over Minnesota. It s worth checking the for his availability,

was a 1-2 week in our MLS picks, leaving us at an overall record of 16-22, -9 units. This week we have four MLS picks from the Week 13 card.

Columbus Crew vs LA Galaxy Prediction

Columbus had an xG of 3.50 versus Orlando last week and piled on the shots with 22 attempts and seven on target in what ended in a 2-2 draw. The Crew rank sixth in xG at 17.7. While they re welcoming a struggling Galaxy team to Lower.com Field, LA just won 2-1 over San Jose and actually ranks right behind Columbus in seventh with an xG of 17.2.

Both of these teams are also among the leaders in attacking third touches, the Crew being second overall, followed by the Galaxy in third. Those numbers continue into attacking penalty area touches with Columbus first and LA third.

It takes no more than a quick look at the standings to see that Columbus, 4-3-4, 8th in the East is having the better season than LA, 2-3-6, 13th in the West. But the Crew have allowed a goal in 8/11 games. Two of their three clean sheets came against DC and the other against an RSL team tied for the third-fewest goals (10) in the league. The Galaxy are a mess, but a Cali Clasico win may give them a boost heading into this one.

MLS Predictions: Both teams to score (-155), risk 1 unit at Caesars Sportsbook
FC Cincinnati vs CF Montreal Prediction

Cincinnati sat out on the weekend so come into midweek play fresh for their home match against Montreal.

Cincinnati is coming off a 2-1 win over DC and is now undefeated in three, with still just a single defeat on the season. Only they, and LAFC have only one loss. FCC are still perfect at home at 6-0-0 with nine goals scored and three conceded and are among the favorites in the .

On paper, if you check the standings, Montreal is just 1-0-5, with two goals scored and 14 allowed on the road and look to be in tough on Wednesday. But Montreal is the hottest team in the league over the past five rounds. They re 4-0-1 and the only team with 12 points over that stretch. That comes off the back of four straight 2-0 wins. Throw in two Canadian Championship wins and they ve won six in a row, the first time they ve done so in club history. They ve also scored twice in all six.

This matchup has produced  a boatload of goals in recent games. Last season Montreal won both games by 4-3 scorelines. In 2021, there was a 0-0 draw, but also a 5-4 Montreal win.
